Founder & Advisory Board Chair
When I began volunteering in the Latino community upon moving to North Carolina in 2003, I quickly realized that the needs of that community were great and the resources limited. I founded The Tomorrow Fund for Hispanic students as a way to help students in our state afford college and change their futures. The Fund is one way for me, a Cuban immigrant, to give back to my community and to the country who’s given my family and me tremendous opportunities. I want to give those same opportunities to these young immigrants today.

My wife, Diane, and I founded The Tomorrow Fund because I understand the challenges of trying to pay for a college education, as well as the challenges of being an immigrant. As the recipient of scholarships, and as an international college student, I will be forever grateful to the scholarship sponsors who helped me afford both an undergraduate and a graduate degree. I can’t think of a better way to pay it forward than to establish this scholarship and help students today.

No child left behind should include all children. It’s our duty to make sure they all have the same opportunities.

Accepting the invitation to join The Tomorrow Fund Advisory Board was a quick and easy decision for me. Higher education is the ladder out of poverty for these highly motivated and academically proven young men and women. Helping Hispanic students stay in school is not only an investment in their futures, but in the well-being of our communities by breaking the cycle of poverty for our Hispanic friends and neighbors.

Education is so important to our family and being part of the Tomorrow Fund enables me to support Hispanic students who dream of attending college.

I share The Tomorrow Fund’s commitment to overcoming the real and significant financial challenges facing North Carolina’s youth as they pursue their dreams through achievement in higher education. The investment I make in The Tomorrow Fund is one that I make for the future of North Carolina and all its citizens.

The Tomorrow Fund opens the doors to education to many talented, highly qualified, and ambitious Latino students. Their courage and determination is inspiring. It is a privilege to be part of the Tomorrow Fund and give Latino youth the opportunity to follow their dreams. I know that years down the road it will be these students who will be contributing and opening doors for others.

Access to higher education is critical to our knowledge based global economy. The Tomorrow Fund is facilitating higher education access by providing qualified students financial support. Helping students prepare themselves for future success is why I am involved.
